My favorite part about October, besides Halloween and crispy leaves and cozy sweaters and hot drinks, is the FOOD! I love to curl up with a bowl of hot beef stew, made with our grassfed stew meat. It leaves me feeling full and cozy and very ready to take on the crisp fall weather! There’s something about eating with the seasons that makes each meal feel like a special “thank you” for both me and mother nature. A true celebration of growth, harvest, and cooking! To continue the celebration, for both the meal and the season, I have collected some of my favorite fall recipes to get you in the spirit. I hope you enjoy!
Chicken Pot Pie is one of my favorites. It’s warm, flaky, buttery, and delicious! I like to make mine with leftovers from one of Josh and Jared’s chickens - they’re pasture raised right at the farm! I like this recipe from Taste of Home. It’s a perfect comfort food and great for leftovers, or serving a small crowd!
It isn’t officially fall until I’ve had a bowl of chili! Recently I’ve been changing it up with our Grassfed Beef Brisket Chili. The best part is that it doesn’t have noodles, because I DON’T BELIEVE IN NOODLES IN CHILI. But it also happens to be hearty, warm, and a little spicy - just the way a good chili should be. Top it with a dollop of plain yogurt or sour cream and you are in for a good ole time.
My favorite cold weather dinner staple is a beef stew! (Can you tell I’m into fall soups and stews? You’re lucky this isn’t just a list of various fall squash soups.) They reheat really nicely so I can have dinner and a few lunches out of it. I recently tried out this new recipe that I really enjoyed! Plus it has tips for cooking and instructions for different cooking methods - whether you’re Team Dutch Oven or Team Instapot?
No matter what you’re whipping up this fall, I hope it brings you joy and a full belly! Cheers to the new season!
