“Whether we or our politicians know it or not, nature is party to all of our deals and decisions, and she has more votes, a longer memory, and a sterner sense of justice than we do"
- Wendell Berry
As stewards of the land, we have vowed to help speak for the earth and those who protect it. We are mournful of the destruction and loss in the Amazon Rainforest, and we would like to address the current push toward a meat-free diet in response to this crisis.
Foxhollow Farm is mission-driven. Everything we do is with the longevity of this land, and this planet, in mind. We use sustainable practices in order to increase the health of all aspects of our environment: soil, plants, woodlands, ponds and streams, domestic and wild animals, and people.
We are committed to the health of our cattle and our pastures and understand that they go hand-in-hand. By allowing the cattle to roam the pastures, they promote healthy grass growth and diversity with the natural tilling their hooves create, and by pressing their manure into the soil, which acts as a fertilizer. Our use of rotational grazing patterns, our composting system, and our emphasis on biodiversity are just a few of the ways we give back to the land what has been taken from it.
The goal of a biodynamic farm is that everything needed for the health of the soil, plants, and animals comes from the land. A wide variety of farm animals, wildlife, birds, trees, plants and bugs help to create this self- nourishing model. The ideal is that the various parts of the farm are interconnected and supportive of one another.
We are proud to be part of the ethical farming community in this state, and we are proud to serve our community beef that is healthy for the consumer and healthy for the earth.
Biodynamic agriculture emphasizes the importance of the farmer's personal relationship with the land. Keen observation, walking the pastures and gardens, and following one’s intuition are vital to the success and quality of biodynamic farming.
Together we can work to change this industry from the inside out. As consumers, it’s vital that we take the time to know who raises or grows our food, and how. Buy from small, local, family farms that you can trust and create long-lasting relationships with. Foxhollow Farm seeks to heal the land and soil through biodynamic farming practices and we are aided in our efforts by the raising of our cattle.
We want to remind our community that there are ways to sustainably source meat if the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle is not for you. Get to know your farmers and their practices, we welcome any visitors to come see for themselves what sustainable farming looks like. We are proud to be part of the ethical farming community in this state, and we are proud to serve our community beef that is healthy for the consumer and healthy for the earth.
