I immediately wanted to throw down with Bobby Flay and show him what a bo$$ baddie I was. SERIOUSLY. If my partner hadn’t popped the question already... this would have been the ticket!!! Both Ina Garten and Glamour Magazine say it’s the way to a proposal. Apparently, that’s what worked for Megan Markel, who became engaged to Prince Harry after cooking a roast chicken. It’s time to feel like straight sustainable royalty, hunny!
I know cooking an entire bird can be intimidating (at least it was for me 🙋🏻♀️) but once you try it, you’ll NEVER go back to store bought. And *cringe*, let’s talk about those store brought rotisserie chickens. With Costco’s price tag of $4.99, it can be extremely tempting. But why is it $4.99? Is that not a little alarming?
Why is there CARRAGEENAN added? Why are they still using those BPA plastic clamshells when Whole Foods switched to pouches that will reduce up to 800,000 pounds of plastic per year?
There’s so much yikes to unpack here, but this excerpt from Food and Water Watch about Costco’s chicken is a great place to start:
“To sum it up: factory farms create colossal volumes of waste, exploit workers, harm animal welfare, fuel antibiotic resistance and climate change, and undermine the economic vitality of our rural communities.” You can read the whole article here.
And let’s face it, YOU are here because you care about where your food comes from. The livelihood of the animal, land, and the farmer. And maybe you want that proposal, amiright?! All is welcome, and encouraged.
So, it’s time you give it a go with one of our all natural, pasture-raised chickens, raised by our farmer friends Josh & Jared here at Foxhollow Farm. There’s no better time than COVID-times to learn a new skill and wow your fam! And since this Thanksgiving is going to look a bit different, why not switch your big’ole turkey to a chicken for you and your loved ones to enjoy (I swear by Ina Garten’s Whole Chicken Recipe) while blasting “Man! I feel like a Woman” by Shania Twain!
If you made it this far, here’s your virtual push to just do the damn thing! 😘
P.S. Don’t forget to save the bones for a delicious, healthy, nourishing broth!
